German Club Forecast.
Rumor has it that the German club will have its first spring meeting in a couple of weeks and that students in German 1310 will be able to trade out lab time for club time. Last semester the members went to Oktoberfest in Hot Springs and to see the Fritz Lang's famous film Metropolis in Little Rock. This semester a trip to the Wiederkehr Winery is in the works.
Congratulations, April (AKA Steffi)
German 1310 superstar April Guy (alias Steffi Graf) correctly answered the embedded Bonus Point Challenge question of last week. She named the seven European countries that use German as an official langauge: Germany, Austria, Liechtnstein, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Italy.
April / Steffi is on the ball in other areas, too. During a frenzied search of the World Wide Web, she uncovered some interesting facts about the German word Samstag (Saturday). Check out her discoveries for yourself at The Mystery of the Week and
The Friesian School's Days of the Week. Both sites have some fascinating information about the root names of the days of the week. Thanks, Steffi!
