Planet IEP

Adjectives, Adverbs,
And Bonus Points.

The Bonus Point Challenge targets adjective word order. We defined adjectives and adverbs in class and discussed how they are used in a sentence. You have also practiced using adjective word order in descriptive sentences. Try your luck at earning some extra points by finding the mistakes in the Bonus Point Challenge sentences.

What's Up This Week?

On Thursday, you must hand in the permission information about your visits to the General Education classes. In addition, you will complete a personality inventory questionnaire. The answers help you see how to interact with people in the classroom. Several students answered these questions last year. It was very interesting because the answers were submitted to the Counseling Center and then we met with two counselors who explained how our answers could help us be better students and teachers.

We will go over the newspaper terminology one more time and also watch the video What Is Folk Art? Don't forget to answer the questions in Task Nine. We'll check those quickly in class. Thursday will be a busy day!

On Friday we will discuss the reading My Navajo Home in Los Angeles and look at the grammar section on adverbs. Didn't we just talk about adverbs in class? For Monday, you will have to complete the chart on page 10, Task 12, on paper for Written Homework. This exercise helps you pick out the main points of description in the reading.

Bonus Point Challenge.

E-mail your answers to freddieb@mail.uca.edu by Monday, September 15, by 10:00 a.m. for a chance to earn some extra points. You must rewrite the sentences using correct adjective word order. Correct any other errors in adjective use as well.

1. The yellow new blanket was made in Panama.

2. We went to the dogs shelter and fell in love with a young sleek beautiful mongrel with eyes blue.

3. The old Catholic stone exquisite church was located in the greens hills.

Asking Permission.

I realize that asking permission to visit a class may be stressful, so I have put an example of a conversation on the website. You can find it in the archives at the bottom of this page. Click on January 22, 2003, and you can find an example.
