Reminders and Answers.
Don't forget that you have to write five test questions for Friday and turn in the Novel Project Number Three. Your test questions should include one question about grammar, one about vocabulary, one about the video lectures, one from the readings, and one about the reading strategies.
Congratulations to everyone who took the Bonus Point Challenge: Hun Loon, Irmina, Nobuko, and Wen Hui.
Which Way Does the Wind Blow?
Did you know that the above expression is also an idiom? For example, someone might ask about how you are going to vote on the sales tax in the next election, and you might reply with, "I don't know. I'll see which way the wind is blowing." That means that you will wait on developments instead of making up your mind immediately.
Several idioms exist regarding the wind. Can you think of any in your own languages? Some others in English include a windfall (unexpected good luck), a windbag (someone who talks but doesn't act), to throw caution to the wind (to take bold action without considering personal danger), to get wind of (to hear of an imminent event before everyone else), long-winded (using several words when one would be enough.
Novel Project Three.
Novel Project Number Three is due on Thursday, November 6. Several students forgot to add the sentence from the novel on the vocabulary section. Please remember that the vocabulary section includes the word, definition, sentence from the novel, and a sentence of your own that includes the new word.
Chapter Two Test.
You will have the Chapter Two Test on pages 60-75 on Monday, November 10. However, this time, you will help create the test. Your assignment for Friday is to write five test questions on the following points: vocabulary, grammar, readings, academic strategies, and video lectures.
