Welcome Students! I would like to personally welcome you to Russian 1310. We taught the same level last semester. If you are interested in seeing what students from that semester think about Russian and the 1310 class, just go to the section on People and read the comments.
Please check the Russkij 1310 Spring Semester homepage and the Planet Russkij website on a regular basis. You will find informative articles about Russian culture, language, and even literature. In addition, I will be posting important information about our class, such as homework assignments and bonus point opportunities.
In the fall of 2003 we are planning on teaching Russian 1310 and 1320. I encourage all of you to think about continuing your study of Russian next fall.
Bonus Point Challenge.
Your first opportunity for bonus points this semester focuses on poet Mikhail Lermontov. Go to the Planet Russkij Reading Room and peruse the article about Lermontov. Answer the following questions and e-mail them to toddm@mail.uca.edu no later than January 24. Here are the questions:
- When did Lermontov gain literary fame?
- 2. How was he killed and at what age?
- Read the short selection of poems. Which is your favorite? Why?
*This is the next step toward THE One World Language.
Step Twelve: Your past participle in the fish bowl!
