To Embrace and Respect
A Wonderful Species

Scott's Logo

Being that I'm not much of an artist, I chose to use the computer to search for other photos taken from people all over the world. This collage represents a vast number of cultures, races, ethnicities and genders. I think that it is a more than a simple collage, but a prediction into the future, a prediction of where our American culture is headed in an ever-shrinking global community.

I'm excited about being a teacher for all of the obvious reasons, i.e. the chances to make differences in people's lives, but I'm also enthused by the prospect of encountering a wide array of people and ideas.

I chose this picture because it is not only representative of the amazing cross-sectional of culture in America, but also because it is indicative of life as it is lived, not just in mainstream America, but in the world that each one of us shares. I hope to teach my students the importance of not only self-acceptance, but also of our duty to embrace and respect the diversities that make us such a wonderful species.
